Caledon Country Fair
|
This will be held in the beautiful, rugged Caledon Wild Flower Garden set against the backdrop of the imposing “Venster” Rock and surrounding mountain range.
As Caledon is a farming town, this is a fair with a FARM FEEL and COUNTRY LIFE exhibited in all its facets:
• Flower Tent, artistically displaying Fynbos scenes and artistic layouts
* Farm produce stalls, selling all the bounty of the surrounding area:
Stone ground wheat; Olives; Honey; Lavender; Goats cheese; Dairy products; preserves and jams; biltong; Herbs; dried and fresh fruit/vegetables
* Fynbos varieties; Various trees and garden plants on sale
* Food stalls, again offering the Boerekos, Cape Malay influence; and heritage delicacies
• Arena with on-going events, such as:
o Sheep shearing display
o Dog obedience and skills
o Energetic Xhosa dancers
o Slithery Snake show
• In the Flower an Eagle encounters show for Raptor enthusiasts
• Children will have a Fun Fantasy section all to themselves
• Petting zoo for children to learn about; touch and experience.
• To keep the young bulls occupied, there will be paintball battles (Fee additional to entrance).
• Tractor parade and vintage cars from Villiersdorp, to see up close and personal.
• Local artists are holding an interactive Art workshop/exhibition and competition
• Crafts on show and for sale- pottery; leatherwork; beautiful Quilts on display from Riviersonderend Quilters.
• Refreshment tent with the wine tasting where one can sit, eat, and charge the batteries under cover
• Some Fast/slow foods to lunch on while strolling around, or making it a picnic in one of the garden’s Lapas away from the crowd.
• Christian Motorbike Association (CMA), Boland Chapter ending off the week-end with a combined worship service in a tent.
